For Students: Applying as a Student

Submission Deadlines

 Applications Open on Tuesday, August 26th at 9:00 a.m. 

Applications Close on Tuesday, October 14th at 11:59 p.m. 

References are Due by Tuesday, October 21st at 11:59 p.m. 

**Accepted students must be available for the Douglas A. Bernstein Leadership Banquet and the Leadership Legacy Retreat from 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 23rd until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 24th.

I am a student interested in applying to the Legacy program. What are my next steps? 

Once the application for Legacy opens on Tuesday, August 26th, press the link to the Kuali form (can also find above). The Kuali form will ask you to submit the following information: 

  1. Personal Information: name, email, phone number, major, and credits completed 
  2. Reference Information: students that directly apply to Legacy require one statement of support from a reference.  
  3. Answers to the Following Questions (prompted on the form):  
    1. What does leadership mean to you personally? Can you share a leader who has significantly influenced you, and how they impacted your approach to leadership. 
    2. Describe a significant accomplishment that you achieved as a University of Connecticut student. How has this experience influenced your understanding of leadership? 
    3. Reflect on your contributions to a community you belong to. How have you demonstrated leadership in this context? 
    4. Describe a time you led an initiative addressing social justice issue(s) on campus or in the broader community. What challenges did you face, and what were the outcomes? 

The application closes on Tuesday, October 14th at 11:59 p.m. Your references have until Tuesday, October 21st at 11:59 p.m. to submit their statement of support. From here, we will email you with the next steps.
