We Start Accepting Nominations on Tuesday, August 26th at 9:00 a.m.
We Stop Accepting Nominations on Tuesday, October 14th at 11:59 p.m.
Students have Until Tuesday, October 21st at 11:59 p.m. to accept their Nominations and Submit a Statement (more instructions below)
**Accepted students must be available for the Douglas A. Bernstein Leadership Banquet and the Leadership Legacy Retreat from 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 23rd until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 24th.
I am a UConn faculty/staff/graduate student who is interested in nominating an undergraduate student to the Legacy program. What are my next steps?
Once the application for Legacy opens on Tuesday, August 26th, press the link to the Kuali form (can also find above). The Kuali form will ask you to submit the following information:
- Personal Information of the Submitter (you)
- Personal Information of the Student that you are Nominating: should auto-populate on the form once you type the student’s name in
- Answers to the Following Questions about the Student you Wish to Nominate (prompted on the form):
- In what ways/capacities have you worked with/are you familiar with this student’s leadership abilities and accomplishments?
- What qualities has this student exhibited that warrant consideration for becoming a Legacy Student? Please provide examples.
The form stops accepting nominations on Tuesday, October 14th at 11:59 p.m. Your student has until Tuesday, October 21st at 11:59 p.m. to accept their nominations and submit additional information. From here, we will email you with the next steps.

I am an undergraduate student who was nominated for the Legacy program. What are my next steps?
Congratulations on being nominated for the Leadership Legacy Experience! You’ve been recognized as a potential candidate for this prestigious program—well done! You now have until Tuesday, October 21st at 11:59 p.m. to either accept or decline your nomination.
If you choose to decline:
- You will receive an email stating your nomination to the program. Press the "Begin Review" icon on the email to open the application.
- Once on the application, click the three dots in the upper-right corner of the screen. From here, the "Deny" option will pop up. Click this. No further action is needed.
If you choose to accept, please read the following instructions carefully:
- You will receive an email stating your nomination to the program. Press the "Begin Review" icon on the email to open the application.
- Once on the form, in the left-hand menu, click on "Accept my Nomination" under the "Pages" section.
- On that page under the "Please select the appropriate option", you must change and select the option: "I am applying to Legacy OR I have received a nomination from someone else."
- Four application questions will appear. You must answer all four before you can submit.
- Once completed, a new page called "Additional Nominee Information" will appear under "Pages." Go to that page and fill in all required fields.
- At the bottom of that page, you’ll be asked if you want to add an extra reference. This is optional. If Yes, click the option and complete the details on the "Reference Information" page.
- When all sections are complete:
- Check the confirmation box at the bottom of the form (under "Accept my Nomination").
- Then click "Approve" in the upper-right corner to submit your materials.
