
What exactly is Leadership Legacy Experience?
The Leadership Legacy Experience is a prestigious, year-long leadership development program—running from January to January—designed for undergraduate leaders at UConn, Storrs. Launched in 2007, the program offers hands-on workshops, fully funded off-campus excursions, and personalized mentorship to help students deepen self-awareness and strengthen their leadership skills. Participants join a selective cohort of 10–14 peers and gain access to nearly 20 years of alumni, creating a close-knit community and lasting professional network. Admission is by application only.
Who is Leadership Legacy Experience for? What is the eligibility criteria for the Leadership Legacy Program?
The Leadership Legacy Experience is open to undergraduate students at UConn Storrs who will be on campus and available from January to December 2026. Eligible students must not be studying abroad or graduating during this time, should be in good academic standing, and able to fully commit to the program, including attending approximately eight workshops per semester. Ideal candidates are those eager to deepen their self-awareness and grow into the best versions of themselves as leaders.

How can I become a part of Legacy?
Undergraduate students interested in joining the Leadership Legacy Experience can apply in one of two ways:

Applications open on August 26 and close on October 14. Students will be notified of their acceptance before Thanksgiving Break and officially begin the program in January 2026.
Are regional campuses eligible for Legacy?
Students from UConn’s regional campuses are not eligible for the Leadership Legacy Experience, as the program requires frequent in-person participation at the Storrs campus. Due to these logistical demands, participation from regional campuses is not feasible.
How long does Legacy run for?
Legacy is a year-long program that runs from January to December each calendar year. The next cohort will begin in January 2026 and conclude in December 2026. Throughout the year, students will participate in approximately 8–10 events per semester, including workshops, excursions, and leadership development activities.
