Legacy 10th

LLE-logo-3-just steps - dark blue

In 2016, the Leadership Legacy Experience is celebrating its 10th year as the University’s premiere student leadership development experience!  It’s hard to believe how quickly time has flown since we welcomed our first cohort in January, 2007.  Yet, despite the passage of time, Legacy has remained true to its original intent by recognizing a select group of the University’s most outstanding leaders and preparing them for a life of leadership beyond UConn.

Many of the components designed over ten years ago remain effective at helping students reflect on and solidify their experiences as student leaders and prepare them for life as individuals who will lead through actions that are selfless, civically motivated, and socially responsible.

To celebrate Legacy’s Tenth Year, there are several events currently being planned that will be held throughout the year – inviting all of our Alumni Legacy Students to reflect, reconnect, and relive some of the best parts of their Legacy Experience.  The following are just some of the events we’re planning:

Legacy ReadsRoad to Character Book Cover
Summer 2016

One of the additions to Legacy over the years has been the Legacy Reads component.  Each summer Legacy invites its students and mentors to explore a new topic or issue involving life and leadership through a common book.  The summer reading has often been followed by a visit to campus and lecture by the author, including an invitation-only dinner.  In 2016, the Legacy Reads book will be ‘The Road to Character’ by David Brooks.  Let us know if you’d like us to reserve a complimentary copy for you!

Homecoming 2016
Saturday, October 22, 2016

This annual event is a favorite and perhaps the most popular event for our entire Legacy Family.  Please plan on joining us for another great day of ‘tailgating’ and catching up with everyone in Legacy.  We’re looking forward to seeing everyone this year so make your plans early and Go Huskies!

Legacy Speakers
February-December 2016

The Legacy Speaker Series has evolved into a recognized forum for the meaningful exploration of timely issues in society.  These lectures, panel discussions, and presentations have addressed a diverse array of issues over the years.  For Legacy 2016 we will be continuing this strong and important component of Legacy and we hope you are able to join us and participate in the conversation.
